1918  In the provinces of Quebec and Nova Scotia, where there are two houses in the legislature, members of the legislative council and those of the legislative assembly are sometimes given the distinguishing titles M.L.C. and M.L.A., respectively. Occasionally but improperly, the form M.L.A. is used with the names of members of the legislature in the other provinces, where there is but one legislative chamber.
