1826  (1829)  . . . down they [the waters] tumble, in some places more than one hundred feet, into the cauldrons or kettles beneath. . . .
1877  Beyond that it breaks into curling, gleaming rolls which end off in white, boiling cauldrons, where the water has broken on the rocks underneath.
1964  Old Bytowners tell of more than one fight that ended conclusively in the cauldron beneath Chaudière Falls.
