chaser Lumbering
n. See 1966 quote.
- 1926  On Tuesday a chaser was hit by the haul back line on one of the loaders, and after being thrown 15 or 20 feet in the air, landed head first on a log.
- 1966  At the landing, a Chaser unhooks the logs. At intervals he inspects the rigging and splices wire ropes needing repairs. His job name originated many years ago when he had to clear the chokers as they became hung-up on obstacles while returning to the Chokerman. He sometimes "chased" the lines for several hundred feet.
