1927  He . . . had driven oxen, cut and hauled cordwood . . . teamed in the lumber woods, hauled logs to the lake front and the mill, fired in the Cobourg tannery, and attended Victoria College.
1960  The verses probably date from about 1890, when a railway was being built through the northern lumberwoods from Ottawa to Parry Sound.
