- 1910  One pattern, which was considered to be the best fitted for [North West Mounted] Police work, was what was termed a "prairiedress," which was to consist of "dark brown cord or velveteen breeches, long boots and spurs, a heavy flannel shirt, over which a stable jacket could be worn when required, and a broad-rimmed hat of soft felt to complete the outfit."
