- 1942  STRAW LINE. The lightest size of steel cable commonly used in the woods. It is dragged out by riggers, passed through blocks and brought back to the drums of the donkey. Then the heavier cable is attached, the straw line wound on to the drum and the heavy cable thus drawn into place.
