- 1805  Whereas the practice of Sliding on small sleighs and skaits in the streets of this city in the winter season is found to be extremely dangerous to passengers and a very great nuisance, it is therefore ordered that if hereafter any person be found so sliding or skaiting he shall pay a fine of five shillings or be admitted to the House of Correction for a time not exceeding eight days.
