  an unofficial name for the Canadian Permanent Resident Card, introduced by the Canadian government in 2002 (see Image 1).

  Type: 1. Origin — The Maple Leaf Card (later officially changed to the "Permanent Resident Card", or "PR Card"), is an official government-issued document which allows permanent residents to return to Canada from abroad.
