n. — Outdoors
a slatted wooden chair, generally for outdoor use, with a straight, fan-shaped back and broad armrests (see Image 1).
Type: 1. Origin — This chair, designed for outdoor relaxation in cottage country, is named for the district of Muskoka in central Ontario, which borders Georgian Bay of Lake Huron. They are called Adirondack chairs in the US, named for the mountain range in upstate New York.
The style of the chair is likely adapted from the American design of the Westport chair (named after Westport, NY). See also Hunter resource.
