  Type: 3. Semantic Change — In Canada, the term designates a skating rink, usually an artificial one. This use is found in other locations, but is most prevalent in Canada (see Chart 1). Regional domain searches indicate that the term is most common in Ontario compared to the other provinces and territories (see Chart 2).
