The construction does not show a Canadian frequency dimension other than a trend in Charts 1 & 2, which, however, confirms a South African predominance for write an exam, which was pointed out in COD-2. With this construction, .ca domains feature about twice the frequency of the US domains. Charts 3 & 4 do not confirm the statement found in COD-2 about a Canadian status.
COD-2, s.v. "write 12.", labels the term "Cdn & South Africa" with the explanation to "take (an exam or test): I wrote Prof. Weldon's Middle English exam last week".
- 1894  The anniversary examinations of the University of Manitoba commence today. A large number of candidates are writing, one of the largest classes on record, about 20 having gone up from the Collegiate, and 9 from St. Boniface.
