This is a common abbreviation for the crime of break[ing] and enter[ing].
1979  Larry was much more cheerful and chirped in: I did seven months for B and E (breaking and entering). It wasn't the first time I got busted. Next time, though, I go to criminal court.
1989  The boy said the four, including Allen, had been drinking vodka and beer and talking about "pulling a B and E, or robbing somebody."
2009  A man convicted of a shotgun slaying during a botched break-and-enter in 1970 is back behind bars, his parole cancelled after he was convicted of a fresh B&E.
2016  After Degrassi was over, we were subjected to another Canadian masterpiece - The Littlest Hobo, about a German shepherd who didn't wanna settle down (maybe tomorrow?). Each episode, this philandering canine would stop at a place, befriend a kid and family, and solve a crime. [...] Back in my day, kids' shows were humble; the focus was on story, not on the wardrobe budget. So when you turned off the TV for dinner, you felt like you were a normal person having a normal life ... albeit with a mediocre dog that couldn't even solve a simple B E.
