Family Allowance Act DCHP-1 (pre-1967)

a federal act, passed in 1944, which provides for the payment of a monthly allowance to the parents or trustees of each child under sixteen years of age, later amended to continue such payments to eighteen, provided that the child remains in school, this payment being known as the youth allowance.
