- 1884  The section of country which was surveyed extends from Moose Jaw and the Touchwood Hills to Calgary, and from the third base line north to the ninth correction line.
- 1952  Along each base line, points are established at six mile intervals and from them lines are surveyed 12 miles due north and 12 miles due south. These lines . . . are true meridians and converge towards the north; consequently, they are not directly in line with corresponding offsets from the next base line. Thus all north-south lines have a jog every 24 miles. The line along which these jogs occur, lying midway between the base lines, is known as the "correction line."
- 1962  He knew he was almost sober because it was not even necessary to walk back to the road for him to ascertain that he had missed the jog of a correction line.
