- 1938  (1950)  He pointed out how the moose tracks, the first we had seen since early December, followed willow-grown portions of the river-bank, as the moose browsed on young twigs of willow and red-osier dogwood. Twigs and strips of dogwood bark are used by the Indians as a scent for beaver traps.
