a tractor-drawn train of sleds and cabooses (def. 5), the principal means of transporting freight, supplies, etc. in the Canadian North in winter.

- 1952  Logs are hauled by sled trains to the frozen rivers where they are piled to await spring break-up.
- 1963  New means were already being rapidly developed in the sled trains drawn by caterpillar tractors (the "cat swings") over winter roads, and above all in the development of "bush flying."
